The Time Is Noon
Blueness
Recycled childhood memories are reproduced time and time again, intertwining with universal cultural meanings and providing an opportunity to reconsider time, space, and the experience of presence itself
I transform painting into a cinema of memory by collecting fragments with an endlessly repeating plot and arranging them into panoramic polyptychs. Colour blocks appear as gaps between 'frames', simultaneously creating separation and unity. The effect is that of repeatedly experiencing the same emotional state, which is not literal but recognisable. This creates a metaphysical space that could be called a spiritual refuge. Repetitive and slightly ajar, it becomes an image of a lost childhood refuge where one could exist outside of time in a state of pure presence.
